There are still just under 100 shares on offer, all listed in our comprehensive list of available shares (https://boatshare4u.co.uk/searchforshares.asp), last updated today, 31st August.

The shares that were on offer at just £1 - due to personal circumstances and the need for a quick sale  - have now both been sold, so the least expensive share is now £500 for a 1/24th yellow share in the 58ft semi-trad Serendipity, launched in 2008.  The boat is managed and the share is being offered by Carefree Cruising.

Currently the highest asking price is for a 1/3rd share of the privately managed Phoenix No 1, a 62ft semi-trad boat launched in 2001, the share being advertised on the boatshare.co.uk site.

Shares continue to sell over the summer

At the last update of our list of available shares (https://boatshare4u.co.uk/searchforshares.asp), the number of shares on offer had dropped back again to less than 100.  This is higher than the immediate post-pandemic level but lower than pre-pandemic levels which were generally around 120 shares on offer.

Share prices now cover a wider range than ever, with a share on offer for as little as £1 for a quick sale due to personal circumstances up to £18,000 for a 1/3rd share in a private scheme.

Possible scam

I received this 'spoof' email, which did not come from me (although it claims to have been from me).  If your receive anything like this, please either report it as a scam or just delete it.  Please do NOT click on the link under any circumstances.

------------------------------------------------------

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I identified this as a spoof because:

There are spelling mistakes such as sever instead of server

My email address is never shown with a capital A for andrew

My email address is a POP3 account, not IMAP(SSL)

There is hidden text within the message, only revealed by checking it in, for eample MS Word.  This hidden text includes 'sent from my iphone' and I don't have an iphone.

There is no such thing as a boatshare4u.co.uk account team

Keeping the right to environmental information on waterways

You've probably heard that the government is planning to repeal any European regulations at the end of the year unless they are specifically retained.

Amongst these are the Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) 2004.

In 2015, Fish Legal won a landmark case that secured the public’s right to obtain environmental information from privatised water companies under the EIR 2004. If the Retained EU Law (Revocation and Reform) Bill is enacted these regulations will be repealed, unless the Government preserves them.

If the regulations are repealed, the public's right to obtain environmental information directly from privatised water companies disappears too. Privatised water companies, most of which are owned by foreign investors, could go back to polluting and abstracting water from our rivers without public scrutiny.

If you want the Government to guarantee the public’s right to environmental information held by these companies, then please add your name to the parliamentary petition here.
